Tokyo, one of the busiest cities in the world, has its own rhythm. It feels like a huge endless human stream.
It feels in Tokyo like people are always on the move, in transit, entering a transitional state in between the things they do in their life.
Passing through a parallel world, they are diving into their cellular phones, holding a channel back to the ‘real’ world.
Some escape into sleep, others just stare at the a distant point. Everyone is in transit..
Gili Yaari. Born in Israel in 1971. An Israeli based photojournalist specializing in documentary and news photography. In his work, Gili focuses on social and humanitarian issues as well as on the major daily issues taking place in Israel and around the glob..

Since 2007 he has contributed photographs for the Jerusalem based press photo agency Flash90. Since 2013 he has contributed photographs to NurPhoto.

Gili’s work was published in major international and Israeli magazines and daily papers. He has participated in several group exhibitions worldwide and in Israel. His work was awarded in various international photography competitions like ‘Sony World Photography Awards’, ‘Prix de la Photography Paris’ (PX3), ‘International Photography Awards’ (IPA) and Moscow International Photography Awards (MIFA) among others.
