BEE TROFORT-WILSON | “Success doesn’t come from your comfort zone”
“Ready to return to the ring!”
I had a great time photographing professional boxer DeMichael Harris aka Trigga Man.
For these images, I used a Profoto (D2 + D1) 3-4 light set up. For the key light, I used the OCF Beauty Dish camera right of the subject. For the rim lights, I used grids and colored gels aimed at each side of the subject. For the below image, I added a gelled fill light in front of the subject.”
Bee Trofort-Wilson is a sports and fitness photographer on a journey to motivate and inspire others through imagery and storytelling, showing that strength is beautiful in all forms, not only physical but also mental. Her studio work is focused on athletic portraits with the use of colored gels while also showing movement through long exposures. Her outdoor sports photography is more editorial style, composed of lifestyle and action images. She attended Virginia Commonwealth University, the #1 public university for the school of the arts, where she not only received a great art education but participated in numerous opportunities, including an internship at People Magazine.
After receiving her BFA in 2013, she moved to Atlanta, where she began assisting celebrity and commercial photographers, including Derek Blanks. She became a full-time photographer in 2016 and moved to LA in 2017. She has had the opportunity to shoot campaigns for the CDC, Under Armour, Adidas, AMC, and more. While creating with people striving to be their best selves, she wants to encourage others to “Bee Fearless” along the way. She opened Bee Fearless Studios in 2020, rental photography and video studio, to provide equipment and resources for young artists to fearlessly create.
“Hurdles will keep coming in your life. Solving these hurdles is the key of your next success.”
I had a great time photographing Spyder Korea athlete and professional 400m Hurdler Kenny Selmon. Another fun shoot in the books playing with long exposures and stroboscopic effect!
I used a Profoto (D2 + D1) 3 light set up. For the key light, I used the OCF Beauty Dish camera right of the subject. I used grids (and colored gels for the first image) aimed at each side of the subject for the rim lights. I took some inspiration from amazing sports photographer James Quantz Jr and his latest work for Gamecock Football.
“Through my use of colors, lighting design, and motion, I aim to produce imagery that motivates the viewer and highlights people as their best selves.”
