ABOUT THE NOMADIC PROJECT
In recent years, I dealt much a question of displacement and documented migratory communities around the world.
In this work, you will find the Sea Gypsies living in Karbi, in Southern Thailand and the Kyrgyz nomads of central Kyrgyzstan.
“In my work, I am on the search for the most basic human experiences. I do not wish to show the “different”, the “bizarre” or the “exotic”. I try to find the most remote places, places in which finding the exotic is very easy, and I try to show my viewers that we are all the same. That, for example, being a mom in NYC is very similar to being a mom in India.
Life circumstances are different of course. But, on the most basic level of the human experience we have, we are all the same.
In my work, I wish to show the person’s soul and not only his Cloths. Therefore do not shoot from a long distance. Being able to speak with the person and to hear his or her story is much more important to me than making the image.”
