For the Love of God is an ongoing documentary project exploring faith as one of humanity’s most enduring and universal forces. Across cultures, generations, and geographies, belief continues to shape identities, communities, rituals, and our understanding of the world.

Rather than examining religion through doctrine or ideology, this series focuses on faith as a lived experience—how individuals express devotion, seek meaning, confront uncertainty, and navigate everyday life through spiritual conviction. Through intimate observations and encounters, the project documents the diverse ways belief manifests itself within contemporary society.

The work also reflects on the relationship between faith and photography. Both rely on acts of trust: one in the unseen, the other in the power of images to communicate experience and truth. In this sense, photographing faith becomes more than documentation—it becomes a means of exploring the human need for meaning, belonging, and transcendence.
At a time when religion remains both deeply influential and widely debated, For the Love of God offers a visual meditation on belief and its lasting presence in the human condition, approached with curiosity, respect, and an open mind.

The photographs were created across multiple cities, including Paris (France), Naples (Italy), Los Angeles (USA), Ho Chi Minh City (Vietnam), and Mexico City (Mexico), reflecting the diverse cultural and spiritual landscapes through which this exploration of faith unfolds.

Brice Gelot operates within a space where documentary photography and interpretation remain in a productive and deliberate tension. Rather than presenting information in a direct or linear way, his work builds on visual friction—moments where clarity and ambiguity coexist with precision and control.

The photographs sustain a nuanced and layered mode of reading. What may first appear immediate gradually reveals a more complex structure, shaped by absence, interruption, and the subtle presence of what lies beyond the frame. In this sense, meaning is not confined to individual images, but is generated through the viewer’s evolving perception of relationships across the work.

There is a clear intentionality in this openness. The work resists closing distance too quickly, instead creating space for reflection, attention, and interpretive depth.
This measured distance should not be understood as detachment, but as a precise strategy that allows complexity to fully emerge within the act of looking.
Ultimately, the work affirms photography as more than documentation. It becomes a space of negotiation and thought—between presence and absence, revelation and restraint, and the multiple layers through which meaning continues to unfold.
